Alvin C. Ingram, 94, was the 9th of 11 children born to Lee and Dera Ingram. He was born in the brickyard company town of Lovick, AL near Leeds and graduated from Leeds High School. He began his working life using a pick and shovel and ended his career as a talented mechanical engineer at Stockham Valves. His engineering skills were basically self-taught. Al was a man of great faith who loved the Lord Jesus Christ will all his heart. He was a faithful servant of Christ who shared the message of salvation to hundreds of people in his lifetime. For many years he was a Bible teacher, occasional lay preacher and spiritual mentor to many. He was a member of Center Point Freewill Baptist Church and previously served the Lord at Ridgecrest and Roebuck Park Baptist Churches. Al was a man known for his love, kindness, gentleness and mercy toward others. He was a wonderful storyteller and would entertain us with "Lovick Stories" about growing up in his little town. He was a gifted in woodworking and mechanics and could do most anything. Each of his children have grandfather clocks that he made. He also invented a few things along the way. He is survived by his daughter, Gayle Waits and son-in-law, Stan; his son, Michael Ingram and daughter-in-law, Sherrie; his grandsons, Mitchell and Dustin Ingram, his step-daughter, Charlene Holmes and her sons, Mike and Scott Holmes, his sister, Joyce McCue and numerous nieces and nephews each of whom was his favorite. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite, his parents and nine brother and sisters. Services will be on Thursday, January 14, 2016, 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Center Point Freewill Baptist Church, 831 Mary Vann Lane, Birmingham, AL 35215. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
