Alma Wade Terry

October 22, 1932 — February 18, 2025

Alma Wade Terry, at age 92, went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 18, 2025. Born in Tarrant, Alabama, she was the youngest of five children born to James and Effie Wade.

Alma lived a life defined by her faith in Jesus Christ and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She was known for her kindness, strength, generous spirit, and zest for life. Alma touched the lives of many through her warm heart, infectious laugh, and gentle demeanor.

Above all, Alma was a loving wife, dedicated mother, caring grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, go to the beach, and play Bunco with her friends. As a devout Christian, she was a long-time member of Springdale Baptist Church where she found immense joy in worship and fellowship.

Alma had a way of bringing people together with her legendary “mac n’ cheese”. No one could match, copy, or duplicate it. It did not matter if you were a friend, a family member, or just someone lucky enough to be invited to a meal, her “mac n’ cheese” was an experience. It was creamy, comforting, and somehow made everything feel like home. Every bite was filled with love, warmth, and a little bit of magic. It was just one of those little things that made her, her.

And, of course, we cannot forget about Alma’s enthusiasm for Alabama football. Whether you were a fellow Alabama fan or not; you would hear her loud, proud, and heartfelt “Roll Tide!”

Alma's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains in the kindness she taught us to show, and in the love she taught us to give. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love and gratitude.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her loving husband of 53 years, Charles, and her beloved daughter, Suzanne.

Alma leaves behind two sons, Reed (Joyce) and Nelson (Brigitte), one daughter, Wanda (Chris), one son-in-law, Anthony, eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation to honor her life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1591 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, AL 35235. The Memorial Service will follow at 2:00pm where we will gather to remember and celebrate the incredible life of this remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
