BURNETTE, ALFRED "AL" SMITH

Alfred "Al" Burnette, age 82 of Birmingham, passed away on May 19, 2012. Al was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for 22 years until returning to Birmingham in 1967 where he co-owned and operated with his brother the Seafood and Chicken Box restaurant until 1980. He will be remembered by friends and family for his culinary skills, his sense of humor, his gentle spirit and his love for those close to him. Al is predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Betty Penuel Burnette and his brother Gene Burnette. He is survived by his sister, Jessie Jackson (Bill); his children Sandra Fiveash (Ed), Alfred Burnette Jr., Linda Roberts, Steven Burnette (Anita); his step-children Steve Penuel (Rita), John Penuel (Mitzi), Janice Ingram (Denniss), Chuck Penuel (Kristi); 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Trussville with a family graveside service immediately following. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
