A.C. (Ace) Higgins passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. He was born on July 7, 1925 in Fultondale Alabama to Ocie and Rosa Higgins. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served 22 months on an LST ship during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He owned his own meat distribution company for many years and made life-long friends with the people he met. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending as much as time as possible with them especially if it was on the golf course. He was a long-time member of Huffman United Methodist Church and more recently Asbury United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, five brothers, two sisters and his wife of 52 years, Lexie Higgins. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elaine Higgins, son Rick Higgins (Deborah), grandsons David Higgins (Holly) and Brian Higgins (Sharla), and great-grandchildren Courtney Higgins, Julianne Higgins, and Grayson Higgins. Also survived by Elaine’s son Jeff Pinegar (Kathryn), grandchildren Tyler Pinegar, Connor Pinegar, and Chandlar Holmes and great-grandson, Riggs Pinegar.
The family would like to thank the many health care professionals that treated him through the years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 16th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Trussville located at 1591 Gadsden Highway. The funeral service, officiated by Bill Rayburn, will take place at 3:00 PM. Burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
