Wynelle Pugh

d. February 12, 2011

Nell Turner Pugh, born March 28, 1917, went home to be with her Lord and join many in her family who have gone on before. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wynelle Turner (Jack) Knight, James K. (Jake) Turner (her husband of almost 50 years), and her late husband, Norman Pugh. She was also preceded by her parents, John and Cora Adams, her three sisters Lois Coker, Reese Johnston, and Dorothy Gray, and most recently by her much-loved son-in-law Robert E. (Bob) Bruce. She is survived by her daughter, June Turner Bruce; her three grandsons Scott Bruce, Eric Knight and Keith (Laura) Knight, and her granddaughter Susan Bruce (Dr. David) Little; along with seven special great-grandchildren, Brittany Bruce (Adam) Singletary, Bri Bruce, Reed Bruce, Dylan Knight, Brandon Little, Melissa Little and Christopher Little. She is also survived by her late husband's sons David (Gail) Pugh, Robert (Lucianne) Pugh, the late Larry Pugh's wife, Linda, along with their children and grandchildren. She was lovingly known by many others in addition to her "grands" and "great-grands" as "Nanny", a role she played beautifully, always having time for anyone who needed a listening ear, a caring heart or just a sweet smile and a loving hug! She was a sweetheart to all who knew her and was still ministering to others by her words and sweet spirit when she was no longer able to do the things she loved to do for others. Her loving, sweet, gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family. She was a charter member of South Roebuck Baptist Church and still had many good friends there. She was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and enjoyed her many loving relationships with friends both young and old. Church and her Wednesday Bible Study were the highlights of her week. The family would also like to express heartfelt appreciation to The Oaks on Parkwood Assisted Living personnel (too numerous to list), Golden Living-Riverchase nursing home personnel (especially Kathy Maynor in Admissions, Anita Davis, charge nurse East wing, and the two who attended Mother so beautifully the last few days of her lifea"Karen Miller and Peatnita Goodwin); Cheryl Gurley at Hospice Advantage for her tireless efforts to help in every way possible during this difficult time in our lives. The celebration of her life will be Friday, February 18th, at Jefferson Memorial East Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, P. O. Box 1270, Charlotte, NC 28201; or Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
