William Wolf

d. April 15, 2011

William Miles Wolf, Jr., the world's greatest coffee salesman, Citadel graduate, devoted husband, outstanding dad, wonderful grandfather, trusted brother, and the happiest, most optimistic and generous man ever known, gracefully left the stage, Friday, April 15th. He was 67-years-old. Rowland Reynolds Wolf, his high school sweetheart and wife of 47-years, kissed him as he stepped away. His three children and younger sister were by his side as Bill began his next adventure.

An unconventional man, Bill found God in the beauty of Nature and life's many blessings. The former combat-airman, who flew over 100-missions across hostile territory in Vietnam, leaves behind a strong legacy of three children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and a happy troop of seven grandchildren. Bill marked his trail with purpose and clarity. He took joy teaching others to learn to help themselves. He was never without a plan for moving forward. His passions were diverse -- from enthusiastically watching Crimson Tide football on autumn afternoons to pausing to take in the rhythmic hoof beats of his beloved horses under the Alabama sun. The Memphis-born Southern-gentleman found friends everywhere -- and, like much in nature, no two friends or friendships were the same. His friends came from all walks of life. Likewise, his professional experiences were diverse - taking him from prestigious boardrooms in America's greatest cities to quiet hamlets dotting the countryside. But eventually, all highways led him to the crossroads of his existence a"- down the quiet clay-speckled roads of Central Alabama, to his treasured home -- Journey's End Farm. While the family suffers the pangs of unimaginable loss, the focus and steely resolve taught by Bill shall endure. Though Bill's battle is over, the war against prostate cancer rages onward. To help us continue the fight, please contribute to the UAB William M. Wolf, Jr. Fund for Prostate Cancer Research, c/o Jeannie E. Horton, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1530 3rd Avenue S. (NP 2501), Birmingham, AL 35294-3300. A private family celebration of his remarkable life will be held at Journey's End Farm in Jemison, Alabama.
