William Gilmer

William C. "Billy" Gilmer, age 82, of Trussville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 24, 2012 at 2:45pm. Billy was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for 56 years. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was the founder of Gilmer Industrial Park. He was preceded in death by his father Harry V. Gilmer Sr., and mother Mattie Bragg Gilmer. Chapel services will be on Saturday Oct 27 at 10am with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Friday. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Helen Gilmer, children Debra (Harold) Mathews, Gale (Reid) Jones, William "Bill" (Terri) Gilmer Jr., Jeffery (Kelli) Gilmer, 15 grandchildren, 9 Great grandchildren, his brother Harry Gilmer, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Doctors of the Kirklin Clinic for all their many years of wonderful care, and special thanks to Dr. David Gettinger and Dr. Richard Lopez and their staff.
