Vera Anne Anker, age 93, went to be with Jesus on August 19, 2020. She was born September 25, 1926 in Cambridge, Ohio to Wilmer and Goldie Hardesty. Vera attended Cambridge High School where she became friends with Dorothy Anker and met her family including Dorothy's brother Carl. World War II interrupted a budding relationship when Carl joined the Army Air Corp and Vera went to Los Angeles to attend Bible College. When the war ended, they were married in Cambridge, Ohio, They spent the next 73 years together, most of those years residing in Alabama where they raised four children. Vera enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, sewing, crafting and was active in her church and community, teaching Sunday School and Girl Scouts. Vera attended Faith Community Church in Trussville. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents, a brother Jay Lee Hardesty, sisters Beverly Plaxton, Sarah Franks, and Wilma Rodine and one surviving sister in law, Dorothy Janusz of Buffalo, Ohio. She leaves behind her children Marilyn Jones of Trussville, Diana Dwelle (Terry) of Medora, ND, Carl Anker (Vicki) of Pine Hurst, NC and Alan Anker (Carmen) of Maryville, TN, three grandchildren Christina Jones Bice (Allan), Jay Jones (Christy) and Drew Anker (Kelsey), six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
