Ruth Gooch

Florence Ruth Gooch, age 85, of Birmingham, passed away on May 27, 2020. She worked at the American Legion Post 171 for 55 years, she worked at Mills Restaurant in Woodlawn for over 20 years, and she was an active volunteer at the VA Hospital and in various Veteran’s charities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison K. Gooch, Sr. She is survived by her children Cherri Barrett and Harrison Gooch, Jr. (Corinne); 5 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 29, at 1pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. A visitation will be held from 12:15- 12:45pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post 171’s GoFundMe account.
