age 56 of Pinson, AL passed away on January 13, 2014. Born in Bluefield, WVA on Christmas Day. She was named after Jesus' mother and was told how special she was because she shared Jesus' birthday, now all her birthdays will be shared with Jesus in Heaven. Mary graduated from Bluefield High School and trained to be a nurse at the local community college. She moved to Birmingham about 33 years ago. Her first job was at Carraway Hospital. She moved to Montclair Hospital and a short while later she went to work at Seale Harris Clinic, as Dr. James F. Crenshaw's nurse, and later for Dr. James H. Crenshaw as his nurse. This was her home for 29 years until she had to stop working because of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) she fought a courageous battle but died at home with family and friends. Mary was an active member of CrossPoint Baptist Church in Argo. She was a member of the World's Greatest Sunday School Class (WGSSC), her second family. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Mary's passion for life was immeasurable, she never gave up trying to help improve everyone's life and she was full of laughter. She was deeply loved by many and will truly be missed until we see her again through God's Grace in Heaven. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Clendenin of Bluefield, WVA; brothers, Chester and Dallas Clendenin of Bluefield, WVA. She is survived by her husband Phil Mills, Sr. of Pinson, AL; son, Stan Mills, Jr. (Lisa) of Springville, AL; daughters, Shawna Ballard (Bill) of Hayden, AL and Stephanie Johnson of Bristol, PA.; father, Herbert Clendenin of Bluefield, WVA; sisters, Teresa Grose, Anita Farley; brother, Mark Clendenin all of Bluefield, WVA; sister, Sandra Allen (Steve) of Damascus, MD; she is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Hospice Services of Alabama staff, also to Dr. Jeffrey Clifton and Dr. James H. Crenshaw. Special thanks to caretakers, Althea Willis, Roxanne Jones, and Tammie Trowbridge. Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 12:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Chapel. Family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Pastor Ryan Whitley will be officiating. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
