Louise Morrison

d. January 11, 2014

Eleanor Louise Williams Morrison, age 85, died peacefully on January 11, 2014 at her home in Trussville, Alabama with her family at her side. Louise was born on the 26th of November 1928 in Lawley, Alabama, the daughter of Palmer Lee and Nelle Williams. After graduating from Oxford High School, Louise went to San Francisco to spend time with her sisters who had moved there with their husbands. She later returned to Alabama, married the love of her life William T. Morrison, and moved to Birmingham where they raised their five children. The bond between Louise and her sisters remained strong, however, and every year they and their beloved cousins spent part of the summer together. This was a favorite time of the year for Louise and was always anticipated with much joy. In later years, she and her sisters would occasionally travel to Hawaii together. Louise made her last trip to California this past summer, travelling with her daughters to attend a wonderful reunion of her three surviving sisters and many nieces and nephews. Her eldest sister, Mary Barnett, preceded Louise in death. Louise was always active in school, community and church activities; honored as Trussville's Woman of the Year for her service in 1972. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Trussville, Alabama, where she worked with Women's Missions, Parish Nursing and taught Sunday school for many years. She is still remembered fondly at the former Baptist Medical Center Montclair, where she worked as a RN in the well baby Nursery and NICU. From 2002-2008, she was a member of the Samford University Women's Auxiliary (now Legacy League), and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Princess Sehoy Chapter. All who knew Louise loved her, and she will be forever remembered as a gentle, caring woman with a wonderful sense of humor.

Her loving husband of 60 years preceded her in death. She is survived by sons, William T. Morrison, Jr. (Jayne), David Russell Morrison (Stephanie); daughters, Cathy Morrison Freeman (Michael), Mary Morrison Nobles Smith (Van) and Jane Morrison Anderson (Mark); her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Nelle Stallings, Augusta Tucker (Fred) and Anne Terrell; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 14 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral Service will be held at the same location, the following day at 12:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Trussville or Samford University's Legacy League. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
