Laurie Lynn Nichols McLain, 52, of Mexico Beach, died Monday, August 6, 2012. She was born to Jesse M. Nichols and the late Betty J. Nichols April 24, 1960 in Birmingham, AL. Laurie graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School in 1978 and worked many years in the restaurant business. She raised a beautiful daughter, Taylor Nichole Nichols. On May 1, 2008 Laurie married Denny McLain. She is quoted, "I'm married to the most wonderful man in the whole wide world. I am blessed." Laurie started her own business, Denny's Dawgs, with her husband in Mexico Beach. This is the place she loved to be, by the sand and water. She enjoyed walking on the beach and playing cards. Laurie is survived by her husband, Denny McLain of Mexico Beach, FL, father, Jesse M. Nichols of Trussville, AL, brother Alan B. Nichols of Clay, AL, daughter, Taylor N. Nichols of Allgood, AL, step-children Abby McLain of Princeton, MO and Andrew McLain of Pinson, AL. She also is survived by two grandchildren, Christin G. Bradberry and Peyton C. McLain. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Lovelady Center, 7916 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35206. A visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Hwy., Birmingham, AL 35235 on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Charles Tuggle officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
