Kenneth Franklin of Birmingham, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the age of 85. His life was defined by hard work and love for his family. Kenneth owned and operated a drywall business with his wife Lorene Thornton Franklin. Kenneth's skill and dedication in the sheet rock business is still evident in the homes of Birmingham's most elite neighborhoods. He was affectionately known as pawpaw by his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed dearly by the entire family for his witty sense of humor, his ability to fix almost anything and his smile. He was preceded in death by parents, Marvin T. Franklin & Nora Crane Franklin He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorene Franklin; his two loving daughters, Teresa (Jerry) Gober & Linda (Douglas) Smith; grandchildren: Christopher Smith, Kenneth Jeffrey (Alison) Smith, Adam (Michaelyn) Gober , Jonathan Brett (Sarah) Smith and Ambree Gober; great grandchildren: Callie Smith, Sofia Smith, Shea Gober, Maci Smith & Miley Kate Smith; and sister, Emma Tolbert of Hillview, AL. Funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 12 Noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Grandsons, Jonathan Brett Smith, Adam Gober, Jeffrey Smith & Christopher Smith will serve as Pallbearers as well as sons-in-law, Jerry Gober and Douglas Smith. The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Hill Healthcare Center in Hillview for their care and support.
