John Eads, 88, of Greenbrier, Arkansas died of cancer on Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. John was born March 28, 1927 in Pinson, Alabama to John and Gladies Townsend Eads. Mr. Eads was Deacon and a lifetime member of Roebuck Park Baptist Church and North Park Baptist church of Birmingham, AL. In his later years he was a member of Life Song Baptist Church of Greenbrier, AR. At Roebuck Park Baptist Mr. Eads worked with the Builders for Christ organization. His group championed the construction of worship facilities by building 27 churches in 25 years. A deeply spiritual man, Mr. Eads focused on all aspects of living out his beliefs through example. Mr. Eads worked tirelessly for Gideon International and volunteered at Children's Hospital of Alabama. When he retired to Florida, he was a missionary to the Amazon, and volunteered at local hospitals as Chaplain. Mr. Eads lived a life of dedicated love and service to God. Mr. Eads was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy, were he participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was recently honored in Washington DC along with other WW II veterans for his service and sacrifice for the United States. Throughout Mr. Eads career he was a master mechanic for Chevrolet. He was a wholehearted University of Alabama Crimson Tide football fan who enjoyed watching the games with his family. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Eads of Greenbrier, AR. Children, Sandy Malone of Tampa, FL, John H. Eads of Memphis, TN and David Eads of Foley, AL, Stepchildren Christi Rachel of Palm Harbor, FL, and Mike Chastain of Maumelle, AR., siblings Neil Eads of Trussville, AL, Gail Gardner of Leeds, AL, and Randall Eads of Birmingham, AL., 4 grandchildren: Stacy Malone Cooke, Major Brandon Malone and Lauren Elizabeth Eads; 6 great grandchildren and 2 adoring dogs, Ruth and Esther. He is preceded in death by wife, Helen Eads of Red Bay, AL, siblings Thelma Eads Chadix, Jean Eads Hefley, Mary Eads Burk, Edna Eads Prince, Doris Ann Eads, Herbert Earl Eads, and James Lavoyd Eads; granddaughter, Amy Eads Dempsey. The visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2016 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama. Funeral Services will follow on Saturday, February 20th at 2:00pm.
