John Black

John E. Black, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2011. He was retired from Hormel and American General Insurance Co. He attended Birmingham Southern College and was a member of Pheta Chi Fraternity John was a Charter member of Denman Memorial Methodist Church. He was a member of Farrah Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evie T. and Bramlett T. Black, and his sisters, Josephine Black and Mary B. Heaton (Harrison). John was deeply devoted to his family and leaves to sorely miss him his wife of 53 years, Annie Ruth (Coolidge) Black; daughter, Lee Ann Black; son, John David Black (Donna); grandchildren, Aaron and Alaina Black; sisters, June Foster (James) and Jeanette Andrews; a host of nieces, two great nieces and two great nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 5 to 7PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Joan Pinson will be officiating over the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Center Point United Methodist Church or Birmingham Southern College. I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT. I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE.
