Jan Sterling

Jan Sterling, age 63, of Birmingham passed away on July 4, 2017. She taught at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School for 28 years and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, A.D. Valentine. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gordon Sterling; her mother, Myrtle Valentine; her children, Jacob Sterling (Brandi) and Cathryn Sterling Buse (Kyle); her grandchildren, Eva and Miles Sterling and Connor and Luke Buse; her brothers, Dennis Valentine (Amy) and Butch Valentine (Judy); and many nieces, nephews and other family members. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 7 at Lakeside Baptist Church from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be on Saturday, July 8 at 10:30 am at Lakeside Baptist Church, with Dr Stacey Boutwell officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Big Oak Ranch or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
