Rev. Jay Brown went home to be with the Lord May 26, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida. Rev. Brown was born November 10, 1922 in Cordova, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 75 years Cecile Grammer Brown, his son James Michael Brown (Lori), his daughter Nancy Brown Sharp (Raymond L.), 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Rev. Brown was a 1946 graduate of Howard College (Samford) and a 1958 graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He began his ministry in Birmingham as the first pastor of Woodlawn Highlands Baptist Church, later renamed Crestway Baptist. He also served in Montgomery, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Michigan. He retired in 1988 as Director of Evangelism for the Kentucky Baptist Convention, but still held revivals and was interim pastor at several churches until 2003. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial. The burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
