James Cannon

James "Jim" Cannon, age 81, of Birmingham, AL passed away on July 9, 2011. James graduated from Emma Samson High School in Gadsden. He retired in 1982 from the Social Security Office and was an Auditor for the county for 15 years. He was an active Ham radio operator with a call sign of WA4PIZ. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving as Sergeant in the Korean War. James is preceded in death by his brother, Carl Cannon; sisters, Helen Lewis, Norene Bennington; and daughter, Angela Harris. James is survived by his loving wife, Stella Cannon; daughters, Carla Cannon, Lori Swindall (Perry), and Trish Cannon; grandchildren, Sarah Bridges, Brandon Madison, and Larry Swindall; and nephew, Kenneth Bennington. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 10:00am at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
