Age 81, of Centerpoint, AL passed away on June 24th due to pulmonary fibrosis of the lungs. The funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 28th at 2:00PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. Terry Partain and Lloyd Barker of Sun Valley Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Fred was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sept. 29, 1931. He graduated from Johnson Consolidated High School, of Brookhaven, Mississippi and he also attended Jefferson State Community College. Fred was married to Dorothy Jean Smith on February 11, 1950. They were married for 63 years. Fred worked as a plant manager inventory control for Vulcan Metal products for 46 years. He also worked for Continental Electric in Trussville for 6 years. Fred served as an Elder for Sun Valley Church of Christ over 30 years. He enjoyed helping the members of the church, golfing with family and friends, attending sporting events and activities of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by father, Fred Watts, Sr.; mother, Velma Franklin-Watts; brothers, Calvin Watts and Alton Watts, and great granddaughter, Madelyn Abigail Davis. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Watts; children: Dale Watts (Betty), Rhonda Buckner (Chris), Greg Watts (Kristi); grandchildren: Tonya Watts, Zach Watts, Holly Payne, Cody Davis (Dexter); Allie Watts, Lexie Watts, Kellie Watts; 9 great grandchildren: Hayley, CJ, and Cole Meeks, Mikyah, Aubrey and Parker Davis, Piper and Will Payne and Walker Buckner.
