Gladys went to be with her Lord on January 30th at the age of 97. She was born to Charles Winston Wortham and Jimmy Lee Nobley Wortham on August 19, 1916 in Wedowee, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Thrasher; an infant daughter, Geraleen Thrasher; her parents; 6 brothers, J.B., John D., R.L. "Doc", Ellis, Earnest and Charlie Fay; and 1 sister, Wenny. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

She and Dan were married in 1934; Dan lost his eyesight after several years and they moved to Birmingham where he worked at the Workshop for the Blind. After the children were grown, she helped Dan sell brooms from the blind and continued to sell brooms after he had a stroke. She continued to sell brooms all over Birmingham and the surrounding area until she reached the age of 91. She became known affectionately by her customers as the "broom lady".

She was a lady of faith who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As long as she was able to, she loved to read her bible, pray and listen to preachers on the radio.
