MCKINNEY, CARLYN OVERSTREET, age 86, of Moody, passed away January 1, 2013. Born Veteran's Day, November 11, 1926, Carlyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. A graduate of Woodlawn High School, Carlyn worked for many years at Alabama Power Company and Hinkle Supply Company and was a longtime member of South Roebuck Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Carlyn was preceded in death by her parents Carl Overstreet and Ruth Sizemore Overstreet, and sister Marguerittee Overstreet Field. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, William H. McKinney; sister Marjorie Overstreet Lawrence; daughter Lyn McKinney Pierce (Ken); son William E. McKinney (Wanda); grandchildren Amy Pierce, Seattle, WA; and Wil McKinney; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to New Beacon Hospice, who provided kindness and loving care to Carlyn and her family during the past two years. Thanks go especially to Cathy, Barbara, and Terre, as well as to volunteers Martha and Dee for the time and attention they provided Carlyn and her husband, Bill. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, with funeral services immediately following, Chaplain Denise Jacks officiating. Interment follows at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
